It’s sad but true. Obesity in the United States for pets is at an all time high. According to a recent study, 50% of dogs and approximately 60% of cats are overweight. As cute as our cubby loved ones are, it’s unhealthy for them and puts them at higher risk of diabetes, arthritis and many other health issues that can shorten their lives. While each situation is different, guilt is often the reason our pets are obese. We want to show them our love, and since time is in short supply for many working pet owners, we dole out too many treats to make up for not having as much time as we’d like to spend, play, or walk with them. Pets want our attention, so try to make time each day to have a play session with them instead of giving another treat. The activity will be good for both you and your loving pets.
