Gluten Free diets are a necessity for some and a choice for others. Gluten is a protein that’s found in some of our favorite foods made of wheat, rye and barley. Gluten is found most often in breads, pasta, and baked goods. It can also be found in candy and some medications. But how do you know if you should avoid gluten? For most people, gluten is harmless UNLESS you have celiac disease. People with celiac disease can’t eat gluten foods at all because it damages the lining of their small intestines Also, people with non-celiac gluten sensitivity shouldn’t consume gluten, either, because it can cause abdominal pain, bloating, gas, etc. The people who go gluten free by choice do so because they believe this is a healthier way to eat and want to lose weight, although there is no scientific evidence that supports a gluten free diet will cause weight loss.
